HOUSE PEDRO CERVEIRA
This project arises from the need to expand an existing dwelling, built in the 1970s and similar to an adjoining building, on a plot of land bordered by the Entre-os-Rios road, the Douro river and the Crestuma/Lever dam reservoir on its right bank.
Adding one floor to the two existing ones proved to be the only viable solution on a steeply sloping plot, thus avoiding an increase in the building's footprint, which would detract from the quality of the surrounding space.
The layout of the programme took into account the privileged relationship with the reservoir, with waters stabilised at the low level of the land, exposing most of the spaces to the south, over the river.
The programme is distributed over three floors as follows: intermediate floor, entrance, with hall, common room (living and dining) and kitchen; upper floor with three bedrooms and lower floor with rooms that enhance the direct relationship with the outdoor space by the river.
